The Corona virus (aptly tagged Covid-19) that “exploded” in
virtually every nation on earth in the year 2020, severely impacted their
economies. Though it started late 2019 in China, by the first quarter of 2020
it has spread to almost all the continents of the earth; this necessitated the
imposition of lock downs in many of the nations affected by this pandemic to
curtail its rapid spread and the resultant casualties never before seen in this
century! Many businesses had to close down…employees asked to stay at home.

The aftermath of these unpleasant consequences? Most organizations, especially the medium and small scale ones, had to downsize their personnel and others “disappeared” …job losses on a global scale was recorded.

It may interest you to know that while some individuals and
organizations were complaining and lamenting the unpleasant consequences of the
global economic shutdown as a result of this Covid-19 pandemic, others were
celebrating the good fortune it brought! Why? Those organizations and
individuals who had an online presence/internet technology in place were able
to leverage it to continue providing services despite the lockdown with its
attendant disruption in the hitherto conventional ways we lived and did
business. Their online presence, internet technology based operations structure
enabled them to take advantage of the numerous opportunities presented by the
disruptions in the normal ways of doing business, and in the way we live and
interacted with each other, for maximum profit…Ask Jeff Bezos (the owner of
Amazon.com), Eric Yuan (the owner of Zoom.com), and a host of other businesses
and individuals in different part of our world.

Friends, the Internet offers tremendous opportunities for serious minded folks to economically survive a post covid-19 economic downturn. All you need is a change of mindset and the willingness to learn.
